Media’s 4Q Ad Sales Drop

Media companies’ advertising sales fell in the fourth quarter from a year earlier as the effects of the economic downturn outweighed a bump in political advertising, Multichannel News says. While cable companies were able to offset the drop with more Internet and telephone customers, broadcasters such as CBS and Walt Disney’s ABC unit had substantially worse financial results relative to the fourth quarter of 2007, Multichannel News reports..
