Verizon Plans Local News Channel

Verizon Communications plans to launch FiOS1, a local news channel for its video service, the Wall Street Journal reports. Local news is seen as a way to get and keep subscribers as cable operators compete with phone companies, the paper says.

  1. I can’t think of any news source I would trust less than one controlled by Verizon.
    With the obvious exception of CNBC, of course.

  2. In which markets? All that they serve? With their own staff? Through partnerships with local broadcasters? News minds need more?
