Cable Show: Comcast’s Roberts Touts Web Video

Apr 2, 2009  •  Post A Comment

Comcast CEO Brian Roberts said online video is the cable industry’s friend, not a foe, in the opening session at the Cable Show in Washington, TelevisionWeek reports. “It’s powering our broadband business,” which he said was the fastest growing segment at Comcast and most other cable operators. Consumers are seeking higher speeds and switching from phone company DSL services, he said. At the same time, Web video offers content companies another opportunity “to monetize in this horrific advertising environment,” TVWeek quotes him as saying.
