Comcast said that its net income rose 6% reflecting additional high speed Internet and telephone customers, which offset a 2% drop in video customers, Television Week reports. Revenue was up 5% to $8.8 billion despite a 1% drop in revenue from the company’s programming division. “Our results for the first quarter mark a solid start to 2009, demonstrating the underlying strength of our subscription businesses and our ability to continue to manage effectively in a challenging environment,” CEO Brian Roberts said in a statement.
