Ad spending by makers of prescription drugs fell 8% in 2008 to $4.4 billion, the first decline since the late 1990s, the Wall Street Journal reports. The paper says that commercials for products such as Vytorin and Rozerem are seen much less frequently on TV, although spending on Viagra remained firm.
