Spike TV has greenlighted a pilot for “Pirate Hunters: USN,” a documentary series that will look at the U.S. Navy’s antipiracy efforts in the Gulf of Aden, Daily Variety reports. The show has a deal with the Navy to allow cameras on the USS San Antonio and USS Boxer, which was one of the ships that responded to rescue sea captain Richard Phillips from Somali pirates, the trade paper says. That led producer 44 Blue to wonder if it would hamper the show, “but the Navy reps told us, ‘This is incredible timing for you guys. You’re going to get a front-row seat in our response,’ ” 44 Blue president Rasha Drachkovitch tells the publication.
