Tea Parties Have News Nets in Hot Water

Apr 16, 2009  •  Post A Comment

Fox News Channel has been hyping the anti-tax tea parties being held around the country designed to protest President Obama’s economic policies, a column in the Los Angeles Times says. Meanwhile MSNBC is writing off the protests as the work of nothing more than crackpots, highlighting the polarization on the cable news scene. “I’ve got a novel idea: How about if we wait and see what happens at these rallies? Maybe journalists can watch, report how many people are there, describe the kinds of things they say and tell us what they plan to do next,” columnist James Rainey writes.

  1. Isn’t it amazing how any liberal protest drawing ten or twenty participants gets news coverage on the local and national level, but a genuine grass roots protest of fiscal conservatives that in many cities had 5,000 – 10,000 participants is written off as being a bunch of kooks and nutcases.
We clearly know where Mr. Rainey’s politics lie after this report that doesn’t even attempt to hide his personal biases.
Perhaps Mr. Rainey will also take the Hispanic broadcasters in his city to task for “hyping” pro-immigrant rallies in his city.
    I wouldn’t hold my breath.

  2. This protest has been brought to you by FOX News Channel. Where news is just an afterthought to pushing a political agenda! The Daily Show captured the FOX sponsored Tea Parties brilliantly!

  3. Bill, I guess you didn’t think it was amazing when millions of people protested the invasion of Iraq and nary a Faux News “journalist” mentioned it, except to briefly blow it off as the opinion of radical America haters?
Why are “conservatives” protesting everything Bush did to the country NOW? Where was everyone for the last 8 years?

  4. Hey Wanda, I have some news for you. Bush wasn’t a conservative. True conservatives don’t support the mush mouthed Liberal wannabees the Republican party has sold out to.
Domestically, Bush was Obama lite. Don’t mistake the protesters for Bush lovers. The real conservatives are starting to show up because Obama is actually throwing the match on the gasoline Bush spilled.

  5. kb, you are exactly right. Bush spent too much and now Obama et al is spending wildly beyond what any of us ever thought possible. If we don’t do something now, it will be too late!
I’m QUITE TIRED of everyone dismissing FOX and it’s viewers as ignorant or extremists. As evidenced by the massive amounts of protesters present at the Tea Parties (and the media’s dismissal and lack of coverage except to make vulgar comments about teabagging) apparently I’m not the only one. Get ready libs, revolution is coming and it can’t happen soon enough! We are sick of being silenced by the liberal media and our liberal govt.
The Tea Parties are about MUCH MORE than taxes. They are about the way conservatives are dismissed in the media, portrayed in the media and are generally under attack because we won’t just fall in line and pretend that everything is ok. IT’S NOT OK! We do not like the direction our country is taking. BIG GOV’T needs to take a step back, get out of our lives, get out of our wallets, stop giving assistance to people who refuse to work. As Dennis Miller said last night, “I don’t mind helping the helpless, I do mind helping the clueless. The clueless are on their own!” Too much of our tax money goes to people and programs that should never have been recipients of gov’t money in the first place. It’s gotten to the point of ridiculousness.
Nancy Pelosi tells a group of illegal immigrants that raids are unamerican and the illegal’s are “patriotic.” Are you kidding me? They are criminals by the very fact that they are breaking our laws to be here!! Obama is apologising on behalf of the “arrogant” American people? WTF? No sir, no more of this insanity!
