TVNewsdayPolitical ad spending could rise to as much as $1 billion in 2009, TVNewsday reports, citing claims from Campaign Media Analysis Group founder and president Evan Tracey. One of the reasons for the high prediction is an increase in spending from advocacy groups, the site says. However, Tracey says the billion-dollar estimate is early, and actual figures could come in as low as $400 million to $700 million, TVNewsday adds.
