Comcast and the National Football League are getting closer to an agreement that would place the NFL Network on the cable-operator’s expanded digital basic channel menu, the Wall Street Journal reports, citing people close to the talks. Comcast would pay the NFL about 50 cents for each of the 17.3 million subscribers to the channel menu, which represents about two-thirds of Comcast’s total subscriber base, the newspaper adds. The NFL had been asking for 70 cents per subscriber, the Journal says.
