Producer and director Bryan Singer (the first two "X-Men" films, "Superman Returns") will be the executive producer of a six-hour action-adventure series for the SyFy channel that looks at the Mayan end-of-the-world prediction, B&C reports.
The series, written by Michael Petroni and Michael Bond will combine conspiracy theories, facts, and myths into it’s plot. The series focuses on a professor who examines and tries to prevent the Mayan prophesy from occurring, B&C says, noting that this is not the first time the network and Singer have worked together. A miniseries that Singer also executive produced,“The Triangle,” ran on the then-named Sci-Fi channel in 2005.
"We’re very excited to be back in business with Bryan once again, and feel this project, with the producing expertise of Keith and Andrew and the writing flair of Michael Petroni and Michael Bond, promises to be a real thrill ride," Mark Stern said. "Given the debate, speculation and mystery surrounding the subject matter, it couldn’t be more timely."
