EA Sports is teaming up with ESPN and its “Monday Night Football” franchise for a Madden NFL game promotion, the  Associated Press reports.

Players from last season’s Super Bowl teams, The Pittsburgh Steelers and the Arizona Cardinals, are featured on the video game’s cover. The first “Monday Night Football” game, which actually is a pre-season game airing this Thursday, August 13, (non-sports fans, we know–doesn’t that make it "Thursday Night Football") will be between the Steelers and the Cardinals.

The video game will not only be featured throughout the “Monday Night Football” broadcast, but on other Thursday programming as well, such as “SportsCenter” and “NFL Countdown” in addition to being plugged on the ESPN website.
Furthermore, CBS, which wants to encourage social networking in its online advertising opportunities, is also involved in the launch of the EA Madden game, Adweek reports.
According to Adweek, "The push for the latest release of the Madden videogame series targets both CBSSports.com and Gamespot audiences with a unit that invites fans to vote for which group is better at Madden: sports fans or gamers. Users vote from within the ad unit and then broadcast their preferences as updates on Facebook, Twitter or MySpace, thanks to Socialize technology from Gigya that integrates various personal feeds."
