HBO optioned the Pulitzer Prize-winning Jeffrey Eugenides novel “Middlesex” for a one-hour drama, says Variety.

Donald Margulies wrote the script and Rita Wilson is exec producing. It would be HBO’s second series set in the Detroit area, where “Hung” films, as well. The sweeping novel about genetics and gender tells the story of a woman who was raised as a male.
