Ryan Jenkins, who was suspected of murdering his ex-wife, model Jasmine Fiore, was found dead in a hotel in British Columbia, CNN reports. (CNN said it could confirm that Jenkins was married to Fiore, but that it has not been able to confrm other news reports that the marriage had been annulled.)

He was found in a hotel in the town of Hope, dead by hanging. Police said preliminary evidence indicates that Jenkins committed suicide, the report says.

After the murder was discovered last week, Jenkins was the subject of a massive manhunt after fleeing from the Los Angeles area to British Columbia.

He was a contestant on a reality show airing on VH1 called "Megan Wants a Millionaire."  VH1 has since pulled the show from the air.

Jenkins had pled guilty to assault in another case in 2007. The company that produces "Megan Wants a Millionaire" 51 Minds, said it had not been aware of Jenkins guilty plea in 2007.

In a statement 51 Minds said, "The company did have in place what it thought was a thorough vetting process that involved complete background checks by an outside company for all contestants on its shows," it said. "Clearly, the process did not work properly in this case. 51 Minds is investigating what went wrong and taking steps to ensure that this sort of lapse never occurs again."

  1. Why don’t these stories add the juicy tidbit that Mr. Jenkins was the $250K winner of the show?
