Perhaps in hopes of repeating the success of its award-winning "John Adams," HBO has two historical miniseries in development, including one from Oprah Winfrey centered on muckracking journalist Ida Tarbell, reports Variety.

Winfrey and Kate Forte from Harpo Films will executive produce.

Carl Franklin (“Devil in a Blue Dress”) is writing and is set to direct "The Black Panthers," about the inner workings of the 1960s movement.
