Showtime has hired an Academy Award-winner to direct its upcoming pilot of "The C-Word," reports The Hollywood Reporter.

It’s writer-director Bill Condon (“Gods and Monsters,” “Chicago,” “Dreamgirls”) who will reunite with star Laura Linney for the show. In the new series she plays a suburban wife and mother who tries to take a light approach to her cancer diagnosis.

Condon directed Linney in “Kinsey," where she earned an Oscar nomination for best supporting actress.
