HBO has engaged a Pulitzer Prize winner to write his first original TV script, an untitled drama about the Catskills Gas Rush, The Hollywood Reporter says.

The writer is RIchard Russo, who will write the script based on a 2008 New York Magazine article by David France. Russo also will serve as executive producer with Mark Johnson and Will Gluck.

Russo previously adapted his novel "Empire Falls" into an HBO miniseries.
