Comcast Corp. launched its Web TV service for about 14 million of its cable and high-speed Internet subscribers, Multichannel News reports.

Dubbed Fancast Xfinity TV, the service makes shows from 27 networks available for free online to most of the company’s subscribers who also pay for broadband access from Comcast.

After a summer test for 5,000 homes, the service is now being made available much more widely, but Comcast is continuing to say it is in “beta” test mode, as it works out any issues that come up.
