Discovery Communications has hired former Fox programming executive Peter Liguori as the company’s chief operating officer, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Liguori, who left News Corp. earlier this year, will be charged with raising the profile of the Discovery channels, the paper says, and will be the company’s point person working with Oprah Winfrey and her new OWN network, as well as the upcoming joint channel with Hasbro.
