‘Jersey Shore’ Star’s Abs Apply for Trademark

First the cast of MTV’s "Jersey Shore" leveraged their success to get raises; now one of the principals cast members, is cashing in on a body part.

In the first for the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, Michael Sorrentino, who dubbed his well-toned abs "The Situation," wants to trademark the term for commercial purposes, reports The Smoking Gun.

The USPTO in December received two applications to secure a mark for "The Situation," one of them for t-shirts and underwear from a company operated by Sorrentino’s brother.
