Michael Mann has brought in two of his longtime collaborators to star in the pilot of “Luck,” a horse-racing drama that he and David Milch are putting together for HBO, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

Dennis Farina, a cop who turned actor three decades ago when Mann cast him in the 1981 film “Thief,” will play a chauffeur and security man who goes in on a track gambling plot. Farina also starred in Mann’s TV series “Crime Story” and his film “Manhunter.”

John Ortiz, who appeared in Mann’s film adaptation of “Miami Vice” and his recent “Public Enemies,” will play a trainer with a shady reputation who is also roped into the scheme.
