Viacom is pulling its popular “The Daily Show With Jon Stewart” and “The Colbert Report” from the online viewing site Hulu.com, after the two sides couldn’t agree on a price for keeping them there, The New York Times reports.
Other Comedy Central programs will be pulled as well, starting next Tuesday. “The Daily Show” is the third-most watched program on Hulu, which is growing but still unprofitable.
The paper quotes an anonymous source, who said, “We tried to reach a deal. We got close. We continued to talk even over the weekend. But we could not agree on a price.”
Full episodes of the two Comedy Central shows will remain available on their respective Web sites.
