Former Nickelodeon Star Amanda Bynes Announces ‘Retirement’ — at 24 Years Old

Former Nickelodeon television star Amanda Bynes announced on Twitter early Saturday morning that she’s retiring from acting at the ripe age of 24 years old, reports the New York Post

Bynes got her start on Nickelodeon’s "Figure It Out" when she was 10 years old and later starred in "The Amanda Show," a sketch comedy show that introduced other child actors including Drake Bell, the report says. Bynes didn’t supply a reason for deciding to retire, although the report points out she hasn’t had a big role since the 2007 film "Hairspray."

"I’ve never written the movies & TV shows I’ve been a part of. I’ve only acted like the characters the producers or directors wanted me to play," she wrote via her Twitter name, Chicky. "I know 24 is a young age to retire but you heard it here first. I’ve retired,
