Bill O’Reilly Steps Back from Web Ad for Financial Newsletter

After a financial columnist at CBS MoneyWatch questioned why Bill O’Reilly had loaned his name to an advertisement promoting a financial newsletter sold by the conservative Web site Newsmax, O’Reilly is stepping back from the Web ad, reports the New York Times

O’Reilly was featured in a guest online video, which promoted the newsletter and a secret "I.R.S. payout" that required consumers to pay to learn more, the story says. Fox News said that O’Reilly hadn’t been aware that the interview would be used in a promotion.

“They took an interview that Bill did and used it for other purposes,” says Fox News executive vice president Bill Shine. It isn’t known how much O’Reilly was paid, and he declined to comment, the article adds.
