A real-life version of HBO’s "Big Love" is heading to TLC in the form of a reality show tracking a polygamist family in Utah, reports the Los Angeles Times’ Show Tracker blog.

Called "Sister Wives," the program will center on husband Kody, his wives Meri, Janelle and Christine and their 13 kids, the story says. The storyline will follow Kody as he adds a fourth wife to the family, a woman who is younger than his current spouses and who has three of her own children, he article adds. The show, produced by "Jon & Kate Plus 8" production company Figure 8 Films, has a seven-episode order and the network may order more if the ratings justify it.

The family decided to go along with the reality show because they wanted to lift some of the secrecy around their living situation and are "looking for understanding," according to TLC President Eileen O’Neill, the article adds.

  1. A slippery slope has been stepped into. Polygamy is a victemless crime, but lawbreakers make for interesting television. So you might see it more, down the line. And when do cameras stop following the lawbreakers?
After the dealer sells a kid crack?
After a punk torches a store?
    After a gangbanger driveby?
    After someone is killed?
    Why stop then?
    A slippery slope.

  2. I think this is great! And should help open people’s mind to all of the good polygamists out there!

  3. I read about this on a different site and didn’t quite get it, but this article is much clearer. Cheers!

  4. Looking for understanding or looking for fame and fortune like everyone else in reality TV?

  5. Everyone should enjoy watching Right-Wing, Republican welfare cheats for a change of stereotype!!!
