Meant as a Joke, Thousands are Taking Jon Stewart’s ‘Rally to Restore Sanity’ Seriously

Sep 24, 2010  •  Post A Comment

Jon Stewart’s "Rally to Restore Sanity" is meant as a way to send up today’s extreme political discourse, but many fans of the Comedy Central host are taking the Oct. 30 event seriously, reports Matea Gold in the Los Angeles Times

With fellow Comedy Central host Stephen Colbert planning a counter-protest called a "March to Keep Fear Alive" at the same time, fans are booking their tickets to Washington, D.C., the story says. More than 140,000 people have said they’ll attend, according to the event’s Facebook page.

But since Stewart is a comedian, rather than a politician, it’s not clear what political benefit attendees will receive from the event, the story says. People involved in planning the rally say it’ll be about entertainment, not a political action rally, the article adds.

  1. Political benefit?
Well, at least you have some people who bring out the truth, even if it’s in their comedy.
I’ve seen some of the better investigative journalism on The Daily Show than I have on any of those other sloppy, dumbass networks. How is it that they can dig up tapes of contradictory statements by these asshole politicians, but the other networks dont?
I hope it gets huge. There is a lot of benefit in this. It shows that we’re tired of this Tea Party crap and clouding of the truth from both sides.

  2. What it really shows is that America still has a sense of humor.

  3. Ok, now everybody laugh all the way to the poorhouse.
” I can not share your laughter ship of fools”

  4. iPods (classic & touch), the Ibiza Rhapsody, etc. But, the last few years I’ve settled down to one line of players. Why? Because I was happy to discover how well-designed and fun to use the underappreciated (and widely mocked) Zunes are.

  5. Apple now has Rhapsody as an app, which is a great start, but it is currently hampered by the inability to store locally on your iPod, and has a dismal 64kbps bit rate. If this changes, then it will somewhat negate this advantage for the Zune, but the 10 songs per month will still be a big plus in Zune Pass’ favor.

  6. You made a few nice points there. I did a explore on the subject matter and found nearly all persons will agree with your site.My instructions about link builder pro – backlink automation tool Thank’s for you notify.
