Bret Michaels, on Eve of New Reality Show, Says He’s 75% to 80% Back to Peak Form

Bret Michaels, the frontman for the band Poison and the winner of last season’s "Celebrity Apprentice," tells the New York Post that he’s 75% to 80% back to his peak form as he prepares to debut his new reality show next week, VH1’s "Life as I Know It."

The new show will track Michaels while he travels and at home, where he lives with his daughters, who are 10 and 5, and their mother, Kristi, the story says. Michaels says that he wasn’t thinking his illnesses earlier this year — an appendectomy, surgery for a brain hemorrhage and a stroke — would make for good television. "It was exactly the opposite" of thinking his medical problems would make good reality TV, Michaels tells the publication.

"When I had the appendectomy, it was in the middle of me already kicking off my tour, and I already knew I was gonna be a finalist on ‘Celebrity Apprentice.’ I couldn’t have picked a worse time in my life to get sick, professionally, not that there’s ever a good time to have a brain hemorrhage."
