Do You Own an iPad? Survey Says You’re More Likely to Cut Pay TV Service

Nov 12, 2010  •  Post A Comment

If you own an Apple iPad, you may be more likely to cut your pay-television service, according to a survey from The Diffusion Group, reports B&C

About one-third of iPad owners were likely by various degrees to cut their pay TV service within the next six months, while almost 13% were "highly likely" to cancel service, the story notes. Because of this, major broadcasters and cable networks might decide to restrict their online offerings and iPad apps so that consumers keep their pay-TV service, according to Michael Greeson, TDG founding partner and director of research. But on the flip side, it might suggest demand for content delivered via the iPad, the story says.

  1. Look to the future. The same way cable replaced over-the-air by providing dozens of options, the internet is going to replace cable. In 15-20 years you will be able to go to the site of any producer and watch any of the programs. Want to see 77 Sunset Strip? You will be able to turn on your TV and go to the Warner Bros site. Where you could also watch Wonder Woman, King Fu, Will and Grace, Chuck, Nikita and dozens of other great shows. This is the future of television. The studios are going to be back bigger than ever.
