Both CNN and Fox News are pursuing a prominent national political figure to appear on camera as a paid contributor, according to a report in the New York Post’s Page Six.
The sought-after politico is former Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele.
CNN declined to comment on "speculation," while a Fox News representative said the network is talking with several potential contributors, according to the report.
Steele said in an interview with conservative site FrumForum.com that he’s "doin’ some TV here and there.” He also noted, “There’s a presidential cycle coming up. I plan to play in that a little bit. Maybe a lot.”
Steele previously had a contract with Fox News, the Post story points out.
