Lifetime Television announced today that it has ordered 16 episodes of a new unscripted series following an Emmy-winning actress, comedian and best-selling author who has slipped out of the spotlight recently to run a farm in Hawaii.

The star is Roseanne Barr, whose new life involves managing a 40-acre macadamia nut and livestock farm on Hawaii’s Big Island with her boyfriend and son.

The half-hour show is scheduled to debut on Lifetime this year, marking a return to television for Barr. It will focus on Barr’s life on the farm.

Making today’s announcement was Nancy Dubuc, Lifetime Networks’ President and General Manager.

“Roseanne Barr is an undeniable force of nature and the idea of following her in this unique premise excited us from the get-go,” said Dubuc. “Roseanne is funny and brutally honest, and our audience will relate to her decision to go on this adventure and create an entirely new life for herself. We are thrilled she will make her long-awaited return to television on Lifetime.”

Added Barr: “I’m coming back down to earth, and keeping it real. They’ve said, ‘Roseanne’s nuts,’ for years, and now I’m going to make that a reality. I’m all about nuts now–macadamia nuts!”
