Pay TV Service, a Joint Venture of Paramount, MGM and Lionsgate, Lands Its First Live Sports Event–a Heavyweight Title Fight

The upcoming heavyweight championship boxing match in Germany will be carried to U.S. TV viewers via a pay TV service that is owned by Paramount Pictures, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios and Lionsgate, B&C reports.

The March 19 fight between Vitali Klitschko and Odlanier Solis will be televised by the Epix pay TV service, and will be the venture’s first live sports telecast. It will also be the first heavyweight fight to be telecast live on American television since 2009.

The service reaches 30 million households and is carried by Charter, Cox, Dish Network, Mediacom, NCTC, Suddenlink and Verizon FiOS, among other providers. The event will be carried online as well as on TV.
