Apple has the date set for its next big media event — and it’s reportedly the day when the company will introduce the next version of its popular iPhone, according to Dow Jones’ AllThingsD.com.
The date is Tuesday, Oct. 4. The introduction of the iPhone 5 will be new Chief Executive Tim Cook’s first big product introduction, the story says. The plan is to make the new phone available for purchase a few weeks after the announcement, the story adds.
Pressure will be on Cook to deliver a good performance, as he’s taken over for beloved tech icon Steve Jobs, who resigned in August as CEO after taking medical leave in January, the story notes.
