Christian Bale is done doing his thing as Batman, so the caped crusader will be played by another actor in the next "Superman" movie.

"Ben Affleck will play Batman opposite Henry Cavill in the ‘Man of Steel’ sequel, Warner Bros. announced today," reports the Los Angeles Times’ Hero Complex blog.

The story continues: "In a statement, director Zack Snyder expressed his excitement about the casting of Affleck, noting, ‘Ben provides an interesting counter-balance to Henry’s Superman. He has the acting chops to create a layered portrayal of a man who is older and wiser than Clark Kent and bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter, but retain the charm that the world sees in billionaire Bruce Wayne. I can’t wait to work with him.’ ”

"Snyder, who directed ‘Man of Steel,’ is set to co-write the story with David S. Goyer, who will pen the screenplay. Production is expected to begin next year, with a July 17, 2015, release date."

  1. NOOOOOOOO!!!!!
I like Ben Affleck, but NOOOOOOOO!!!! How about great actors like Val Kilmer or George Clooney. Oh, wait…..

  2. BAD CASTING! Affleck has no edge – that’s why he can’t be taken seriously as Batman. However, the movie will still draw an audience as it has BOTH Superman and Batman in it. You could have cast Jonah Hill as Batman and it would still be a box office hit. In fact… Jonah Hill has more edge than Affleck… that would have been a better casting choice quite frankly.

  3. Don’t forget that Affleck did a tremendous job playing TV Superman George Reeves in “Hollywoodland” a few years back. It was a great dramatic performance with a definite edge — don’t assume he won’t do a good job.
