Oprah Winfrey’s cable channel appears to be thriving on programming from one content provider. B&C reports that OWN increased its order for season one of Tyler Perry’s scripted comedy "Love Thy Neighbor" to 52 episodes, up from the previous 26.
While the current cycle of the comedy began airing its two-part finale Aug. 21, the additional episodes will air as part of season one starting in January.
The series premiered May 29 and has averaged more than 1 million total viewers, the report notes.
OWN also gave an order for four additional episodes of Perry’s drama "The Haves and Have Nots," the piece adds. The channel had previously increased its order for the show by 16 episodes in June.
