After being pursued by five outlets across broadcast, cable and digital, Ben Affleck’s crime drama "The Middle Man" has landed at Fox with a pilot order, reports Nellie Andreeva at Deadline.com.

The project will mark Affleck’s television directing debut, with Glenn Gordon Caron serving as showrunner and writing the pilot, the story notes.

"Like most of Affleck’s movies, ‘The Middle Man,’ from Fox and Pearl Street, takes place in his native Boston. Described as a classic Boston crime story, it is set in the 1960s and tells the story of Rudy MacAteer, an FBI agent charged with taking down the Italian mafia, and his confidential informant, Irish-American gangster Mickey Flood," the story notes.

While Affleck has been approached for directing on TV before, this marks the first time he has committed to direct a pilot, the story notes.
