HBO has given a series order to a new drama from Damon Lindelof, whose earlier TV projects have included "Lost" and "Crossing Jordan."

Deadline.com reports that the pay-cable network gave a 10-episode order for "The Leftovers," based on a book by Tom Perrotta. The project is directed by Peter Berg and co-written by Lindelof and Perrotta, whose novel is about the people who are left on Earth after the Rapture.

Warner Bros. TV is producing, marking the studio’s first series for the network. The project also marks Lindelof’s first television project since "Lost" ended on ABC in 2010.

Lindelof has been keeping busy since then with feature work, including "Cowboys & Aliens," "Prometheus" and "Star Trek Into Darkness."
