NBC has bought an adaptation from Warner Bros. TV and DC Comics. Deadline.com reports that the network ordered a project based on the DC Comics series "Constantine."

The project focuses on the supernatural detective John Constantine, who defends people against dark forces, the story says. The character, created by Alan Moore, Steve Bissette and Jamie Delano, first appeared in 1985 as a recurring character in "The Saga of the Swamp Thing."

He was the focus of a 2005 movie, with Keanu Reeves portraying the character. NBC bought the project with penalty, the report notes.
