A popular ABC News anchor who entered rehab for alcohol abuse in October has left the program. TVNewser reports that Elizabeth Vargas returned home and is expected back on the air as early as next week.

After leaving the rehab center, Vargas tweeted, “Hello everyone! I am home, and so grateful for all your support and well wishes. I am so much better and taking it one day at a time. :)”

Vargas has been with ABC since 1996 and co-anchors “20/20,” also filling in on "Good Morning America."

Midway through her treatment, Vargas released a statement saying: “I realized I was becoming increasingly dependent on alcohol, and feel fortunate to have recognized it for the problem it was becoming. I am so thankful for the love and support of my family, friends and colleagues at ABC News.”
