A 41-year-old Canadian woman was found guilty today of stalking and harassing actor Alec Baldwin and his wife. The New York Times reports that Genevieve Sabourin received a sentence of 210 days in jail before being taken out of the courtroom in handcuffs.

The trial made headlines this week, with Sabourin angering the judge by shouting at Baldwin and his wife, Hilaria, as they testified, as we reported earlier this week, and being cited for contempt of court on Wednesday.

"The judge’s decision ended a week of courtroom drama during which Mr. Baldwin took the stand to describe what he called a ‘nightmarish’ ordeal with an obsessed stalker," The Times reports.

The report adds: "Ms. Sabourin, a freelance film publicist and aspiring actress, was unrepentant when Judge Robert Mandelbaum asked if she had anything to say before sentencing. ‘I haven’t done anything wrong,’ she said. ‘That’s what I have to say. You are doing a mistake right now.’”

"Judge Mandelbaum said Ms. Sabourin had demonstrated ‘a complete lack of respect for the legal system’ and had waged a ‘relentless and escalating campaign’ to annoy and harass Mr. Baldwin and his wife," The Times report adds.

The judge told Sabourin: “The rules of civil society apply to you as to everyone else."

"Ms. Sabourin was found guilty in a bench trial without a jury of several misdemeanors: two counts of stalking, and one count each of attempted aggravated harassment and harassment," the story reports. "She was also convicted of violating an order of protection for Mr. Baldwin and his wife, issued in May 2012, by sending threatening messages on Twitter to Ms. Thomas. The judge had already sentenced her to 30 days in jail this week for contempt of court, and gave her the maximum sentence available for the other charges: 180 days."

  1. “I did not have sex with the woman Monica Lewinski” —- Oh that was a different case! But Baldwin IMHO is just as honest as Bill was.

  2. She should have been found guilty of pi$$ poor taste as well!

  3. This is the same guy that chased down a photographer and called him “a c**ksucking f*g,”? She gets 210 days in jail for harassment and he gets a “rebuke” from GLAAD? Must be nice to be male.
