FX has acquired television rights to a number of recent theatrical releases that have done big business at the box office. Deadline.com reports that the cable channel snagged Disney’s "Thor: The Dark World," Warner Bros.’ "Gravity" and Sony’s "Captain Phillips."

"They’ve also locked in ‘Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa,’ ‘Cloudy With a Chance Of Meatballs 2’ and ‘Prisoners,’" the story reports. "FX has been very aggressive in acquiring blockbusters, buying virtually every No. 1 movie in the box office for the past couple of years for the main network and FX siblings FXX and FXM."

Some of the network’s other recent acquisitions that have been previously announced are "Iron Man 3," "Man of Steel," "Fast And Furious 6," "World War Z," " The Heat," "The Wolverine" and "The Hangover Part III."

The newest acquisitions are set to roll out on the FX Networks starting in 2015, the report notes.
