Comedian George Lopez has a new project in development at the CW. The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reports that the show is a Latina-focused musical drama called "Star Crazy."

The drama is about a young singer who grows up in poverty but ends up becoming the nation’s darling, the story says. Bob Brush of "The Wonder Years" is writing the script, along with actress Mel Harris. Brush, Harris, Lopez and Leslie Kolins Small, the president of Lopez’ Travieso Productions, will executive produce.

The piece adds: "For the CW, ‘Star Crazy’ comes just as the younger-skewing network also is developing a ‘Fame’-like drama from Debbie Allen and Sam Haskell. Both projects come as music-themed series continue to generate buzz, with Fox’s ‘Glee’ currently airing its fifth season on Fox and ABC’s ‘Nashville’ in the midst of its sophomore run."
