‘Inadvertent’ Error Keeps HBO’s ‘Game of Thrones’ Out of Drama Awards Competition

Because of what HBO is calling an "inadvertent" error, the pay-cable channel’s wildly successful drama series "Game of Thrones" will not be competing for a Writers Guild of America Award in the drama series category, Nellie Andreeva reports on Deadline.com.

The network attributes the oversight to an “inadvertent online entry error,” the story reports.

“Game of Thrones” previously received two consecutive WGA Awards nominations in the category. HBO said the show’s episodic entries weren’t affected.

“Since the submission process is online, it is not clear whether the omission was a result of a computer glitch or human error. I hear HBO tried hard to rectify the problem the moment it was discovered, but WGA would not add the show to the top drama category it had been competing in since it [launched],” Andreeva writes.
