An actress who was believed to be the last surviving adult cast member from the groundbreaking CBS comedy "I Love Lucy" has died, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Shirley Mitchell was 94.

Mitchell died of heart failure, according to her sister-in-law, Oscar-nominated actress Nancy Olson, the piece notes.

Mitchell joined "I Love Lucy" in the 1953-54 season and appeared in three episodes, including one in which she received honest opinions about her new hat and her laugh during a bridge game including Lucy and Ethel. The set-up was that Lucy had bet her husband and her friends Fred and Ethel that she could last 24 hours without lying.

Lucy tells Mitchell’s character, "Marion, stop cackling. I’ve been waiting 10 years for you to lay that egg!”

Mitchell was married to Jay Livingston, the composer and lyricist who worked on Oscar-winning songs including "Mona Lisa" and "Que Sera, Sera," the piece notes. They were married from 1992 until he died in 2001.

Mitchell’s television roles include Opal Clampett on "The Beverly Hillbillies" and roles on "Please Don’t Eat the Daisies," "Petticoat Junction," and "The Red Skelton Hour."

  1. That one is really a stretch. A guest on three episodes is not cast member of a show. She was only married once at the age of 73?
