Reality TV Personality Under Fire for ‘Bipolar’ Tweet

A reality television personality is under fire for a tweet in which she talks about being "so bipolar." TheWrap.com reports that "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" star Kylie Jenner sent out a tweet comparing changing her hair color to being bipolar.

Her tweet read: "I miss my black hair I’m so bipolar." The message included a photo of her with dark hair. The twitterverse reacted negatively, with one commenter writing, "No, you’re not ‘so bipolar,’ you’re indecisive … and a moron."

A spokesman for the National Alliance on Mental Illness called Jenner’s tweet "inappropriate" and "insensitive." Jenner hadn’t yet responded to the backlash, the story adds.

“She’s 16. It’s an inappropriate, insensitive expression, but it reflects the need for greater education and understanding about mental illness among all teens. Particularly because most mental illness emerges by age 14,” the NAMI spokesman said.

  1. Are you kidding me? Inappropriate and insensitive? NO! She is a teenager making a self-deprecating comment about her own indecision. We know what she meant. She wasn’t knocking the whole “mentally ill community” or however you want to characterize it. We have reached the point where everyone is prepared to be offended by everything, which completely stifles creativity and expression. It is sad to think what great work might be withheld, for fear that someone might decide to be offended.
