The latest TV role for an actor known for the long-running Fox comedy “That ‘70s Show” sounds as though it will give him something grittier to sink his teeth into.

The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reports that the El Rey Network tapped Wilmer Valderrama, who played the foreign exchange student Fez on “That ‘70s Show,” for a series regular role as a crime lord on “From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series."

Valderrama will play the character Carlos Madrigal on the 10-episode series, which is based on the film of the same name. Also starring in the show are D.J. Cotrona as Seth Gecko and Zane Holtz as his brother, Richie Gecko. Don Johnson will play a Texas Ranger who is on their trail after several people die during a bank heist.

Robert Rodriguez, the director and producer behind the "From Dusk Till Dawn" feature film franchise, will executive produce with Carlos Coto, who is also the showrunner.

El Rey, founded by Rodriguez, will debut in December and is a new 24-hour English-language network that’s geared toward a Latino audience.

  1. Where will El Rey Network be available? Only online? Or does it have deals with Satellite and Cable? This is the first I have heard about it.
