Universal Television has struck a first-look production deal with Jennifer Lopez’ Nuyorican Productions, under which the company will develop new scripted and reality projects, reports Deadline.com.

Nuyorican has a new ABC Family drama, "The Fosters," which was recently renewed for a second season. A goal of the company is to "create edgy, timely and relevant programming," Lopez said in a statement.

In conjunction with the deal, Nuyorican tapped Priscilla Porianda as head of development. She joined the company last year.

"She will work closely with Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, Benny Medina and I in expanding our brand into scripted and unscripted television," Lopez said.
