“Wheel of Fortune” has named a new director, who will be only the third director in the 31-year history of the syndicated show, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The show promoted Bob Cisneros to position, the story reports. Cisneros, who started his career in CBS Television City’s mailroom, joined the program in 1987 as a stage manager, when he was on staff at CBS Television, the story says. Later he became associate director.
He replaces Mark Corwin, who died this summer after serving as director since 1999. Corwin had taken over when Dick Carson, the younger brother of longtime “Tonight Show’ host Johnny Carson, retired.
"I am so proud to be named the director of ‘Wheel of Fortune’ — it is a dream come true,” Cisneros said. “I am surrounded by a fantastic staff and crew that has supported me through my entire ‘Wheel’ journey, and I look forward to continuing the tradition of my predecessors by creating quality shows for our fans.”
