Fans of the long-running BBC show "Doctor Who," which has featured 11 actors portraying the title role, have picked the actors they believe portrayed the best Time Lord and his companion, reports the U.K.’s RadioTimes. The British poll was conducted in connection with the show’s 50th anniversary.
The favorites are David Tennant as the Doctor and Billie Piper as his companion, the poll of 20,000 RadioTimes readers found. Tennant played the 10th Doctor, between 2005 and 2010, while Piper played Rose Tyler, a companion to both his Time Lord and the previous Doctor, played by Christopher Eccleston.
Tennant received 56.1% of the vote, with his successor, Matt Smith, coming in a distant second with 15.9% of all votes.
The Doctor whom many remember as the iconic face of the show, Tom Baker, placed third, drawing about 10% of the vote.
