Bob Costas will sit it out again tonight, Friday, Feb. 14, 2014, with a continuing eye infection preventing him from hosting NBC’s prime-time coverage of the Winter Olympics.

Tonight’s Olympics guest host will be Meredith Vieira. For the past three nights, Matt Lauer has been filling in for Costas as well as doing his regular co-hosting chores on the "Today" shows.

While a number of women have anchored other dayparts of NBC Olympics’ coverage, the network says tonight will mark the first night a woman has achored NBCs prime-time Olympics telecast.

On the "Today" show this morning Vieira said, "It’s an honor to fill in for [Costas]. You think about the Olympics, and you think the athletes and then Bob Costas."

  1. I hope she didn’t catch the red-eye flight to get there.

  2. Just another way to rub salt in the wound of Ann Curry.

  3. You don’t see too many Maria Ouspenskaya jokes around these days.

  4. Hell, you don’t see much Maria Ouspenskaya around these days

  5. Just watched good old Maria in “Dodsworth” (1936) a few nights ago on TCM. She won an Oscar for that role, even though she was on camera for about 10 minutes, if that.

  6. My bad. She was nominated for Best Supporting Actress. No Oscar.

  7. Hey Biff, you ever see Maria in Love Affair and The Wolf Man?
