An actress on ABC’s popular comedy series "Modern Family" was reportedly groped by a man an event promoting the show in Sydney, Australia. E! Online reports that Sarah Hyland, who plays Haley on the sitcom, made an abrupt exit from the event after the man grabbed her breast while posing for a photo with Hyland.
"According to eyewitnesses, Hyland immediately pushed the man in question away and screamed, ‘Don’t touch me there!’ before her security guards intervened," the story reports. "The NSW Police confirmed that a 29-year-old man was arrested in relation to the incident [Thursday]."
A police spokesperson told the publication: "It is alleged that the man indecently assaulted the 23-year-old woman at about 7:50 p.m."
The man was reportedly charged with assault with an act of indecency, according to a video posted by the New York Daily News.
The E! Online report adds: "The brunette actress took to Twitter to vent her frustrations saying, ‘Sorry to all the fans outside the #quantas event that I didn’t get to say hi to but I had to leave due to an inappropriate touch by a fan.’"
Hyland’s boyfriend, Matt Prokop, also reportedly tweeted about the incident, writing: "To the a–hole who assaulted Sarah tonight I hope to God you don’t see next week. All Sarah wanted to do tonight was say [hi] to he girls who were waiting outside one douche can ruin it for everyone. Goodnight."
Other "Modern Family" stars also taking part in the event, which was hosted by Qantas, reportedly included Ariel Winter, Sofía Vergara, Julie Bowen, Ty Burrell and Eric Stonestreet.
