The ties between NBC’s "Saturday Night Live" and the network’s "Late Night" continue to run strong. Seth Meyers is calling up one of his former “SNL" colleagues to helm the band on the show when Meyers takes over later this month.

The Los Angeles Times’ Show Tracker reports that comedian Fred Armisen will front the group, the 8G Band.

Meyers tweeted a photo of the band, writing, “Fred will curate and lead the band, and continue to run it even when he’s off shooting ‘Portlandia.’" Meyers’ predecessor on "Late Night," Jimmy Fallon, was another "SNL" veteran.

Armisen was on “SNL” with Meyers before Armisen left the show at the end of last season, the story notes. Meyers had his farewell show on "SNL" Feb. 1 and will start on “Late Night” Feb. 24. The show has announced that his first guest will be another former “SNL” cast member, Amy Poehler.
